Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Family Devotion application or website ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use constitutes acceptance of any changes.

2. Description of Service

Family Devotion provides a mobile application and companion website that allows users to listen to the Bible in audio format, using either a standard text-to-speech voice or an AI-generated voice clone of a chosen individual. The Service is available on iOS and Android devices.

3. Accounts and Registration

To access certain features of the Service, you must create an account. You agree to:

  • Provide accurate and complete registration information
  • Maintain the security of your password and account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized account access
  • Take responsibility for all activities that occur under your account

You must be at least 13 years of age to create an account. Users under 18 must have parental consent.

4. Voice Cloning — Consent Requirements

The voice cloning feature is subject to strict consent requirements:

  • You may only clone the voice of a person who has given explicit, informed consent to have their voice cloned and used within the Family Devotion Service.
  • For deceased individuals, you represent that you have the legal authority to use their likeness (e.g., as a family member or estate representative) and that using their voice for this purpose does not violate any applicable laws.
  • You are solely responsible for obtaining and documenting consent before submitting any voice recording.
  • We reserve the right to remove any voice clone that we believe was created without proper consent.
  • Cloned voices may only be used within the Family Devotion Service for Bible audio playback. Any other use is strictly prohibited.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Family Devotion offers both a free tier and paid subscription plans:

  • Free Devotion: No charge. Includes device text-to-speech voice and full Bible access.
  • Personal ($7.99/mo): Includes 1 AI voice clone slot.
  • Family ($10.99/mo): Includes 3 AI voice clone slots and up to 5 family members.
  • Legacy ($29.99/mo): Includes 10 AI voice clone slots and unlimited family members.

Subscriptions are billed monthly. Payment is processed securely through Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

Prices are subject to change with 30 days' notice. We will notify you via email before any price changes take effect on your account.

6. Cancellation and Refunds

You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings or by contacting support. Upon cancellation, you will retain access to paid features through the end of your current billing period. We do not provide refunds for partial months.

We may offer refunds on a case-by-case basis at our discretion. Contact support@familydevotion.app for refund requests.

7. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Clone anyone's voice without their explicit consent
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Create voice clones for any purpose other than personal Bible audio within the Service
  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or extract voice models
  • Violate any applicable laws or regulations
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
  • Access the Service through automated means (bots, scrapers)
  • Share your account credentials with others outside your subscription tier

8. Intellectual Property

The Family Devotion name, logo, app design, and website are our intellectual property. The Bible text used is the World English Bible (WEB), a public domain translation. Voice clone models generated within the Service are licensed to you for personal use within the Service only — they remain subject to our platform terms and ElevenLabs' usage policies.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR COMPLETELY SECURE.

10. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FAMILY DEVOTION SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO US IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association's rules, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or a prominent notice in the app at least 14 days before changes take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes are effective constitutes your acceptance.
